Job summary

Awanui Labs - Queenstown is seeking a motivated Medical Laboratory Technician to join the General Laboratory on a permanent part-time basis (Saturday – Tuesday, 32 hrs per week). You will support daily laboratory operations, demonstrating attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality service and standards.

The role includes specimen handling, phlebotomy, data entry into laboratory systems, and patient/client liaison.

Qualifications

• Ability to work methodically under strict quality procedures.
• Customer-focused with strong interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory operations; safety awareness.
• Eligible to work in New Zealand; NZ Driver's Licence may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, sort, and process specimens.
• Perform phlebotomy and collect specimens per protocols.
• Participate in on-call duties as required.
• Enter patient and test information into laboratory systems accurately.
• Answer phone enquiries and assist clients professionally.
• Manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
