Job summary

Awanui Labs is seeking a dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician to join our Core laboratory in Taranaki on a permanent, full-time basis. The role focuses on Haematology and Biochemistry testing with state-of-the-art automated systems, contributing to accurate patient results.

You will work within a collaborative team, maintaining high safety and quality standards, with opportunities for professional development and hands-on experience across lab operations.

Qualifications

• Excellent attention to detail and thorough record-keeping abilities.
• Ability to work independently within a supported team environment.
• Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand and an Annual Practising Certificate as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or Technician.
• Flexibility with working hours is valuable to the team.
• Sound knowledge of laboratory operations including safety, equipment operation, and hands-on experience preferred.
• Eligible to work in New Zealand or in-process for qualification.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic testing in the Haematology and Biochemistry Department.
• Operate and maintain automated laboratory systems and equipment.
• Ensure accurate and reliable test results in line with laboratory standards.
• Follow quality assurance, safety, and infection control procedures.
• Collaborate with the laboratory team to support efficient workflow.
• Contribute to high-quality patient care through precise and timely testing.
