Job summary

New Zealand Red Cross in Whangarei invites an experienced Assistant Shop Manager to join our team. This key support role acts as 2IC when the Shop Manager is away, ensuring smooth shop operations, warm customer experiences and well-presented displays.

You will manage cash handling, assist with stock and shop presentation, and support volunteers, contributing to a safe, friendly team environment and strong sales performance.

Qualifications

• Experience in cash handling and till management.
• Experience in a retail shop environment.
• Experience working with volunteers.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist as second-in-charge when Shop Manager is away.
• Lead tasks, drive sales, and ensure safe, positive working environment.
• Manage cash handling and till processes.
• Support shop presentation and displays.
• Handle stock management and preparation as trained.
• Support volunteers with Health, Safety and Wellbeing practices.
