Job summary

Hamilton City Council is seeking a Parks Maintenance Officer to care for our district’s green spaces, playgrounds and sporting facilities. You will play a key role in safety, quality and presentation while supporting the Parks and Recreation team.

Join a dedicated group that ensures Hamilton’s parks and public spaces are welcoming and well-maintained. The role requires strong planning, hands-on maintenance, and the ability to work independently or with others to meet deadlines.

Qualifications

• Must have a current NZ full driver’s license (Class 2)
• Must have a current first aid certification
• Experience in parks maintenance
• Experience in general maintenance/handyperson activities
• Strong work ethic with ability to plan and execute multiple work programs using available resources
• Able to work independently with good physical fitness and cope with manual work

Responsibilities

• Perform safety maintenance tasks across parks, playgrounds and sporting facilities.
• Ensure work meets high safety, quality and presentation standards.
• Collaborate with contractors and the Parks and Recreation team.
• Work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
• Engage with the public in a friendly and professional manner.
• Maintain a customer-focused approach and consider facility users’ needs.
