Job summary

Hamilton City Council is seeking a Parks Maintenance Officer to help care for parks, playgrounds, sporting facilities and council infrastructure across the Waikato region. You will work independently and as part of a team, perform safety-focused maintenance, manage litter, and collaborate with contractors to deliver high-quality public spaces.

The role requires a NZ driver’s license, first aid certification, and hands-on experience in parks or general maintenance; starting wage is $29.90 per

Qualifications

• Current NZ full driver’s license - Class 2 essential.
• Current first aid certification.
• Experience in parks maintenance.

• Strong work ethic with ability to plan and execute work programs.

Job description

As a Parks Maintenace Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing Hamilton’s green spaces, sporting facilities, playgrounds, and other council infrastructure. Your work will directly contribute to the wellbeing of Hamiltonians and support our vision of making Hamilton the best place to live.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general safety maintenance tasks across parks, playgrounds, and sporting facilities.
• Ensure all work meets high standards of safety, quality, and presentation.
• Collaborate with contractors and the wider Parks and Recreation team.
• Work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
• Engage with the public in a friendly and professional manner.
• Maintain a customer-focused approach, considering the needs of facility users.
• Manage parks rubbish and ground litter.
