Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking two full-time painters to join our Auckland team. The roles are permanent, based in the Auckland region, and require a Monday to Friday schedule from 9:00 to 15:30 with at least 30 hours per week.

You’ll work with an established local painting company, enjoying a diverse site experience, a collaborative team, and a competitive hourly rate between $28.00 and $32.00 depending on skills and experience.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' painting experience or an equivalent Level 4+ qualification
• Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
• Physically fit and reliable with good attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Prepare surrounding areas by covering with cloth or plastic and taping off as needed
• Prepare walls and surfaces by scraping, sanding, washing, and removing old paint
• Fill holes and cracks and smooth surfaces to be painted
• Move furniture and equipment to access surfaces
• Estimate paint quantities and time required for projects
• Mix paints to required colours according to instructions
• Apply paint and varnish using brushes, rollers, sprays or similar tools
• Provide decorative or faux finishes as required by the project
• Identify and purchase required materials such as paint and brushes
• Clean up equipment and restore areas after project completion

We are looking for 2 full-time permanent (working at least 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00-15:30) Painters to grow with our team.

The location of work is within Auckland Region.

The duties include:

• Prepare the surrounding area by covering with cloth or plastic to prevent mess; tape off areas as needed
• Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, using sandpaper, removing old paint, fixtures and washing walls, etc
• Fill holes and cracks on the surface, conceal and smooth the areas require painting
• Move furniture and equipment as necessary to reach the entire surface of the project
• Calculate the amount of paint and time required for the project
• Mix paint and other materials to prepare the right colour according to instructions
• Apply mixed paint and varnished to surfaces using hand/power tools, brushes, rollers and sprays
• Provide decorative and faux finishes as the project requires
• Identify and purchase the correct materials such as paint, brushes, and other supplies when required
• Clean up equipment and replace fixtures as required when project is complete

To be successful you will need:

• Ideal candidates should have at least 2 years' relevant work experience in the same field or industry, or
• At least have a relevant level 4 or above qualification in the same field/industry, or a bachelor level or higher qualification in any field or discipline
• Be a great team player, be able to follow instructions
• Be physically fit and willingness to work hard
• Good eye for details and an ability to solve problems practically
• A "can-do" attitude
