Job summary

Babcock New Zealand is seeking an experienced Industrial Coatings Painter to join the Devonport-based team in Auckland. You will apply protective coatings on ships, shore infrastructure and equipment, ensuring durable finishes and compliance with safety standards.

The role requires hands-on coating application, surface prep, spray painting, and a strong focus on quality workmanship in a marine environment. Trade qualification and NZ driver licence are essential.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification (Level 4+) in Industrial Painting or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in industrial, marine or construction coatings.
  • Full New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain NZ Defence Security Clearance.

Babcock is looking for a Painter to join the Industrial Coatings team based in Devonport, Auckland.

About The Role

Join Babcock New Zealand's Industrial Coatings team in Devonport, Auckland, where you'll contribute to the maintenance and protection of critical marine and industrial assets. Working across ships, shore-based infrastructure, equipment and machinery, you'll apply specialist coatings that enhance performance, durability and appearance while supporting essential defence and commercial operations.

  • $45.50 per hour (trade certificate essential)
  • OT rates paid at 1.5x for first 3 hours and 2x for anything beyond that
About You

You are an experienced Industrial Coatings Painter who takes pride in delivering high-quality finishes in demanding environments. You have strong expertise in surface preparation, abrasive blasting and protective coating application using airless spray, brush and roller techniques. You work safely, communicate effectively and thrive as part of a collaborative team. With a strong eye for detail and a commitment to quality workmanship, you can interpret specifications, solve problems independently and consistently produce work that meets demanding industry standards.
