Job summary

Babcock New Zealand’s Industrial Coatings team in Devonport, Auckland, seeks an experienced Paint er to contribute to the maintenance and protection of critical marine and industrial assets. You’ll apply specialist coatings across ships, shore-based infrastructure, equipment and machinery, delivering durable finishes in a demanding marine environment.

You will work hands-on in a collaborative team, adhering to safety standards, and interpreting complex specifications to ensure quality

Qualifications

  • Experienced Industrial Coatings Painter with 5+ years in marine/industrial environments.
  • Skilled in surface preparation, abrasive blasting and spray/brush/roller application.
  • Able to interpret specs, work safely, and deliver high-quality finishes.

Responsibilities

Babcock is looking for a Painter to join the Industrial Coatings team based in Devonport, Auckland.

About the role

Join Babcock New Zealand's Industrial Coatings team in Devonport, Auckland, where you'll contribute to the maintenance and protection of critical marine and industrial assets. Working across ships, shore-based infrastructure, equipment and machinery, you'll apply specialist coatings that enhance performance, durability and appearance while supporting essential defence and commercial operations.

  • OT rates paid at 1.5x for first 3 hours and 2x for anything beyond that

About you

You are an experienced Industrial Coatings Painter who takes pride in delivering high-quality finishes in demanding environments. You have strong expertise in surface preparation, abrasive blasting and protective coating application using airless spray, brush and roller techniques. You work safely, communicate effectively and thrive as part of a collaborative team. With a strong eye for detail and a commitment to quality workmanship, you can interpret specifications, solve problems independently and consistently produce work that meets demanding industry standards.

Key Required Qualifications

  • Full New Zealand Class 1 Driver Licence
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a New Zealand Defence Security Clearance
