Job summary

Babcock Australasia in Auckland is seeking an Operational Defect Coordinator to join the Maintenance Delivery team in Devonport. You will coordinate defect rectification, engage contractors, and plan repairs to support naval readiness.

This role offers exposure to defence and engineering programmes in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and prioritisation directly impact fleet availability.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification or equivalent experience in PM, Engineering, Maintenance, or Technical Operations.
  • Minimum two years' experience in a project coordination, maintenance coordination, or engineering support role.
  • Experience in naval/defence/maritime environments and NZ Defence Security Clearance eligibility.
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.

Babcock is looking for a Operational Defect Coordinator to join the Maintenance Delivery team based in Devonport, Auckland.

About the role

Join Babcock New Zealand in a pivotal role supporting the Royal New Zealand Navy's operational readiness. As an Operational Defect Coordinator, you'll be at the centre of complex maintenance and engineering activities, coordinating defect rectification, contractor engagement, and repair planning that directly contributes to fleet availability and mission success.

About you

You are an organised and proactive coordinator who thrives in technically complex environments. You have experience managing multiple priorities, engaging with contractors and stakeholders, and ensuring work is delivered to high quality standards. Ideally, you've worked within defence, maritime, engineering, or maintenance operations and understand the importance of compliance, safety, and documentation. You communicate confidently with both technical and non-technical audiences, enjoy solving problems, and take pride in delivering outcomes that support operational readiness and customer success.

  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a NZ Defence Security Clearance
