Job summary

Babcock Australasia invites a Senior Project Manager to lead the Fleet Platform initiatives from Devonport, Auckland. You will steer cross-functional teams to translate strategic requirements into executable programmes for defence and maritime capability.

You will influence major shipbuilding and ship repair projects, engage senior stakeholders, and drive governance-ready baselines for successful delivery in complex environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Project Management or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant qualification in Engineering, Business, Commerce, Finance, Supply Chain, Construction Management or related discipline.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent.
  • AIPM Certified Practising Project Manager (CPPM) certification or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Define and shape major maritime projects from concept to governance-ready baselines.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams across engineering, commercial, supply chain and operations.

Job description

Babcock is looking for a Senior Project Manager to join the Fleet Platform team based in Devonport, Auckland.

About The Role

Join Babcock New Zealand in a pivotal leadership role where you'll define and shape major maritime projects before they enter delivery. Working across engineering, commercial, supply chain and operational teams, you'll transform strategic requirements into clearly defined, executable programmes that support critical defence and maritime capability.

This is an opportunity to influence high-value shipbuilding and ship repair projects from the earliest stages. You'll engage senior stakeholders, lead multidisciplinary teams, establish project baselines, and ensure projects are governance-ready for successful execution. About You

You are an experienced project management professional who enjoys solving complex challenges and bringing clarity to large-scale programmes. You have successfully led multidisciplinary teams and developed robust project scopes, schedules, budgets and risk frameworks within maritime, defence, engineering or asset-intensive environments. Strong stakeholder engagement comes naturally to you, and you're comfortable influencing senior leaders and external partners. Most importantly, you're proactive, commercially aware, delivery-focused, and capable of turning strategic objectives into practical, achievable project outcomes.
