Job summary

Babcock Australasia seeks an Electrical Fitter to join the Marine Electrical team based at Devonport, Auckland. You will perform installation, maintenance and fault-finding on complex electrical systems across power distribution, propulsion and communications equipment.

The role offers hands-on, varied work with opportunities to develop skills in fibre optics and advanced systems in a safety-first culture. NZ registration and a trade certificate are essential.

Qualifications

  • Trade-qualified Electrical Fitter with full NZ registration.
  • Experience across marine, industrial and defence environments.
  • Strong ability to read drawings and use test equipment; communicate with stakeholders.

Job description

Location: Auckland, NZ, 0624 Onsite or Hybrid: OnSite Babcock is looking for an Electrical Fitter to join the Marine Electrical team based in Devonport, Auckland. About the role Join a highly skilled electrical team supporting critical marine and defence operations. This role offers hands-on work across installation, maintenance, and fault-finding on complex electrical systems, from power distribution to propulsion and communication equipment. You will work in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, contributing to essential operational readiness. You will be part of a collaborative, safety-first culture that values continuous improvement and technical excellence. With opportunities to develop new skills, including fibre optics, and exposure to advanced systems, this is an excellent role for an electrician wanting to expand into marine and defence sectors while building long-term career capability. $48.50 per hour (trade certificate essential) OT rates paid at 1.5x for first 3 hours and 2x for anything beyond that

About you You are a trade-qualified Electrical Fitter with full registration, confident working across marine, industrial, and defence environments.
