Job summary

Western Bay of Plenty District Council is offering paid summer student roles from November 2026 to mid-February 2027. As an Asset Data Officer you’ll help review and update information about Council’s infrastructure assets, check asset condition, collect field data, and update our asset management systems to support smart decisions.

Opportunities exist across Water Services, Transport, Reserves and Facilities, Emergency Management and Solid Waste.

Qualifications

• Possess strong attention to detail and curiosity to understand how things work.
• Able to communicate clearly and work both in a team and independently.
• Comfortable collecting field data and updating asset records.

Responsibilities

• Review and update information on Council assets and their condition.
• Gather asset data in the field and input into asset management systems.
• Support multiple teams (Water Services, Transport, Reserves & Facilities, Emergency Management, Solid Waste).
• Assist with data validation to help informed decision making.
