Job summary

Northpower in New Zealand is seeking an experienced Line Mechanic to join our Construction and Maintenance team. You will help deliver reliable electricity by constructing and maintaining overhead lines and operating equipment up to 33kV, with a strong focus on safety and practical, hands-on work.

In this role you will develop work plans for construction, servicing and upgrading lines, install and replace conductors and pole structures, and operate ground- and structure-mounted equipment, while

Qualifications

NZ Certificate in Electricity Supply (Line Mechanic Distribution) Level 4 is required.
NZ Driver Licence is required.
HT Licence is highly desirable.
Additional competencies relevant to the network or customer are advantageous.

Responsibilities

Construct and maintain overhead electrical lines to meet customer, project, and network requirements.
Develop work plans for construction, servicing and upgrading of electricity lines and associated equipment.
Install and replace overhead conductors and pole structures as needed.
Overhaul non-load-bearing pole hardware in networks up to 66kV.
Operate ground-mounted and structure-mounted equipment for lines up to 33kV.
Work safely, efficiently and to a high professional standard.
