Job summary

Northpower is seeking an experienced Line Mechanic to join our Construction and Maintenance team in New Zealand. You will be responsible for constructing and maintaining overhead lines up to 33kV and operating key equipment with safety as a priority.

The role requires hands-on work on poles, conductors, and associated hardware in a dynamic field environment. We value a strong safety culture, clear communication, and the ability to work well within a team.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience working on overhead lines.
  • Strong commitment to safety with a good safety record.
  • Reliable team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Good communication skills with colleagues and customers.
  • Experience in electrical maintenance/construction environments and high‑risk settings.

Responsibilities

  • Construct and maintain overhead electrical lines up to 33kV.
  • Develop work plans for construction, servicing and upgrading of lines and equipment.
  • Install and replace overhead conductors and pole structures as needed.
  • Overhaul non-load-bearing pole hardware and operate field equipment safely and efficiently.
