Job summary

SPCA Greymouth Op Shop is looking for a casual Op Shop Assistant to cover leave and busy periods. You will join a vibrant team, price and merchandise donated goods, and keep the shop clean and welcoming for customers.

This role suits a reliable, flexible communicator who can work across the shop floor, till, and sorting area, support volunteers, and follow SPCA health and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Retail or customer service experience, charity retail a bonus.
• Ability to work across shop floor, till, and sorting area.
• Confident communicator who helps others.
• Reliable, organized and proactive with good attention to detail.
• Comfortable working in a team and independently.
• Physically fit and able to lift/move stock as required.

Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, price, and merchandise donated goods per SPCA guidelines.
• Keep shop clean, welcoming and well-stocked throughout the day.
• Serve customers with warmth and professionalism.
• Process sales and cash handling, including end-of-day reconciliation.
• Provide cover and basic supervision in the manager's absence.
• Support and guide volunteers in their roles.
• Follow health & safety and SPCA procedures.

We have an exciting opportunity at our Greymouth SPCA Op Shop for a casual Op Shop Assistant to work as and when required to cover leave and busy periods.

Our Greymouth store is a vibrant part of the local community, with a dedicated team of volunteers and loyal customers who love finding second-hand treasures. This casual role is ideal for someone flexible, reliable, and ready to jump in and support the team when needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, price, and merchandise donated goods in line with SPCA guidelines.
• Ensure the shop is clean, welcoming, and well-stocked throughout the day.
• Serve customers with warmth and professionalism, promoting positive donor and shopper experiences.
• Accurately process sales and cash handling, including end-of-day reconciliation.
• Provide cover and basic team supervision in the manager's absence.
• Help support and guide volunteers in their roles.
• Ensure health & safety and SPCA procedures are followed.
