Job summary

Qjumpers is seeking a proactive Safety Advisor to join our People & Safety team at our Port Chalmers head office, Dunedin. This permanent full-time role provides practical safety advice and training across our marine, bulk and cruise operations.

Reporting to the Safety Manager, you will lead investigations, coach risk management programmes, conduct inspections, develop SOPs and safe work practices, and drive continuous safety improvements on site with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• Experience in health and safety advisory or generalist role in high-risk environments.
• Practical safety investigation experience (ICAM training desirable).
• Strong communication skills and ability to influence at all levels.
• Able to work autonomously and stay calm under pressure.
• NZ Driver's license and ability to pass MOJ/ACC checks and medical.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day safety advice and guidance to managers, supervisors and staff.
• Moderate incident reports and lead investigations to identify root causes.
• Coach and participate in Critical Risk Management and Critical Control assurance programmes.
• Undertake inspections, audits and Visible Safety Leadership (VSL) activities.
• Support safe systems of work for high-risk activities (JSAs and Permit to Work).
• Develop and deliver safety training and SOPs.
• Drive continuous improvement projects aligned with company priorities.
