Kāinga Ora – Homes and Communities is seeking an Occupational Health Lead based in Auckland or Wellington. You will act as the health SME, guiding People Leaders to create safe, healthy and sustainable work environments while supporting injury, illness and other health needs.
You will develop guidance and tools, support health monitoring and health risk assessments, and contribute to a positive health and safety culture across the organisation, aligning with NZ legislation and ACC principles.
We are recruiting for an Occupational Health Lead based in either our Auckland or Wellington National Office.
As an occupational health subject matter expert, you will help People Leaders create healthy, safe and sustainable work environments for their teams. Working across a diverse workforce, you'll provide practical advice and guidance on work-related health risks, workplace adjustments, recovery at work, and supporting kaimahi through injury, illness and other healthcare needs.
You will build leader capability by developing guidance, tools and resources that help managers confidently navigate health-related situations and support positive outcomes for both kaimahi and the organisation. This includes helping leaders understand medical recommendations, manage complex health-related situations, and identify suitable workplace accommodations that enable people to remain connected to meaningful work wherever reasonably practicable.
A key part of the role is supporting delivery of the Health, Safety and Organisational Risk (HSOR) work programme. You'll help strengthen our approach to managing work-related health risks through prevention, early intervention, health monitoring and continuous improvement. This includes contributing to health risk assessments, developing health monitoring programmes, analysing health trends and providing recommendations that support a healthier and safer workplace.
You'll also provide occupational health expertise to projects, policy development and organisational initiatives that improve the wellbeing of our people and contribute to a positive health and safety culture across Kāinga Ora.
We offer competitive salaries, five weeks' annual leave and a benefits package including a range of insurances, flexible working arrangements and career development. These benefits are described in more detail here https://careers.kaingaora.govt.nz/a-great-place-to-work/benefits
