Job summary

Higgins is seeking a motivated Network Inspector to join our Hawke's Bay team. You will inspect local and national road networks, identify defects and risks, and provide evidence-based information to support asset decisions. Travel across Hawke's Bay and after-hours duties may be required.

You will work with clients and delivery teams to deliver quality outcomes, emphasising safety, continuous improvement and reliable performance. A full NZ driver's licence is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience in roading, civil construction, infrastructure or maintenance sectors.
  • Understanding of road maintenance, asset management or network inspection activities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct inspections across local and national road networks per contract requirements and the Fault Identification Guide (FIG).
  • Monitor network condition, safety and performance against Levels of Service.
  • Identify defects, hazards, risks and non‑compliance issues and record them accurately.
  • Collect, analyse and maintain inspection and asset data.
  • Support maintenance planning and treatment decisions through condition assessments and technical recommendations.
  • Collaborate with clients, stakeholders and delivery teams for best‑for‑network outcomes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and quality assurance activities.
  • Participate in incident response and rostered after‑hours duties as required.
  • Undertake travel throughout the wider Hawke's Bay network as required.

Job description

Higgins is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Network Inspector to join our Hawke's Bay team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining the safety, reliability, and performance of both local and national road networks across the wider Hawke's Bay region.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you'll be responsible for carrying out network inspections, identifying defects and risks, and providing accurate, evidence‑based information that supports asset management decisions. Working closely with clients, stakeholders, and operational teams, you'll help deliver quality outcomes while contributing to a strong culture of safety, continuous improvement and "Right First Time" delivery.

What you'll be doing
  • Conducting inspections across local and national road networks in accordance with contract requirements and the Fault Identification Guide (FIG)
  • Monitoring network condition, safety and performance against agreed Levels of Service
  • Identifying defects, hazards, risks and non‑compliance issues and ensuring they are accurately recorded
  • Collecting, analysing and maintaining accurate inspection and asset data
  • Supporting maintenance planning and treatment decisions through condition assessments and technical recommendations
  • Working collaboratively with clients, stakeholders and delivery teams to achieve best‑for‑network outcomes
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and quality assurance activities
  • Participating in incident response activities and rostered after‑hours duties when required
  • Undertaking travel throughout the wider Hawke's Bay network as required
What you'll bring

  • A full New Zealand driver's licence
