Job summary

Higgins is seeking a Cyclic Crew Member in Wairoa to join a dedicated crew delivering maintenance, construction, and infrastructure projects that keep communities connected and moving safely. This hands-on role suits someone who enjoys outdoor work and prides themselves on quality and safety.

You will operate tools and small plant, assist with site prep and upkeep, and work with teammates to complete projects on time to a high standard. The position offers a permanent role with 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Full Class 1 Driver Licence is required; additional endorsements are advantageous.
• Experience in civil construction, infrastructure, roading, or similar hands-on work.
• Commitment to health and safety and delivering quality work.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of maintenance, construction, and infrastructure projects across the region.
• Carry out civil construction and maintenance activities as directed.
• Assist with site preparation, repairs, asset maintenance, and project works.
• Operate tools, small plant, and vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Work with crew members, operators, and supervisors to meet timelines and standards.
• Maintain worksites to be safe, tidy, and compliant.
• Record completed work and update systems using tablets or mobile devices.
• Contribute to a safe, productive, and high-performing team environment.
• Support after-hours callouts or emergency response when required.

We're looking for a Cyclic Crew Member to join our Wairoa team. Working alongside a dedicated crew, you'll play an important role in delivering maintenance, construction, and infrastructure projects that keep our communities connected and moving safely.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in delivering quality work, and is committed to maintaining a safe environment for both the team and the public.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting the delivery of maintenance, construction, and infrastructure projects across the region
• Carrying out a variety of civil construction and maintenance activities as directed
• Assisting with site preparation, repairs, asset maintenance, and project works
• Operating tools, small plant, and vehicles safely and efficiently
• Working alongside crew members, operators, and supervisors to deliver projects on time and to a high standard
• Maintaining worksites to ensure they are safe, tidy, and compliant
• Recording completed work and updating systems using tablets and mobile devices where required
• Contributing to a safe, productive, and high-performing team environment
• Supporting after-hours callouts or emergency response activities when required

What You'll Bring To The Role

• Full Class 1 Driver Licence (Class 2, Class 4, or WTR endorsements are advantageous)
• Experience in civil construction, infrastructure, roading, maintenance, or a similar hands-on industry
• Confidence operating tools, equipment, and small plant safely
• Good time management skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach
• A commitment to health and safety and delivering quality work
• A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn
• Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in a range of conditions
