Job summary

SPCA Auckland is seeking a National Education Officer (Community) to inspire children and young people across Aotearoa New Zealand to be kind to animals through education and outreach. You will connect SPCA Education with schools, libraries, and communities, creating engaging learning experiences and resources while growing partnerships and promoting animal welfare.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Education, Community Education, Community Development, Youth Work, or related field.
• Experience designing and facilitating educational programmes, workshops, presentations, or community engagement initiatives.
• Experience working with children and young people.
• Strong understanding of effective teaching, learning, and community engagement practices.
• Knowledge of New Zealand primary and/or intermediate education settings.
• Experience building and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong written communication and experience developing digital or promotional content.
• Experience planning, coordinating, and evaluating projects or programmes.
• Confidence using digital technologies to support learning, communication, and engagement.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Understanding of child safety, inclusion, and culturally responsive practice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver education programmes and resources to children and communities.
• Build partnerships with schools, libraries, early learning services, and community organisations.
• Develop engaging initiatives, materials, and communications to boost participation.
• Facilitate learning experiences and support outreach opportunities.
• Create engaging content for SPCA Education initiatives.
• Support SPCA teams with outreach and community engagement activities.
