Job summary

SPCA Auckland is seeking a casual Animal Attendant in Kerikeri to care for animals, support adoption efforts and assist with daily centre operations. You will coordinate with teams and volunteers, monitor animal health, and engage with the community to promote welfare and enrichment.

Ideal candidates will have animal handling experience, strong communication, and a compassionate approach in a busy environment, while promoting a safe and caring atmosphere for both animals and people.

Qualifications

• Experience handling animals with care and safety awareness.
• Proven ability to work with volunteers and foster networks.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to stay calm and empathetic in busy environments.

Responsibilities

• Care for animals in the centre and support adoption pathways.
• Coordinate with teams and volunteers to improve animal welfare.
• Monitor health, behavior and administer medication as needed.
• Respond to adoption enquiries in person, by phone or online.
• Support enrichment and socialisation programs for shelter animals.
