Job summary

Hilton Haulage, a NZ-wide transport provider, seeks a Driver Performance Manager to lead the driver training and compliance function. You will design and embed a best-practice framework, scalable and audit-ready, across the business. The role balances strategic oversight with hands-on delivery of front-line training and safety initiatives.

You’ll recruit, lead a small Trainer team, use data-driven insights, and partner with operations to lift capability, safety, and performance across the fleet.

Qualifications

• Experience designing training frameworks and competency systems.
• Proven experience in driver training, assessments and transport operations.
• Strong leadership with team development.
• Deep understanding of NZTA regulations and industry best practice.
• Data-driven with ability to translate insights into action.
• Effective communication and relationship-building at all levels.
• Organised with attention to detail and commitment to excellence.

Responsibilities

• Establish a national driver performance, training, and compliance framework.
• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of Driver Trainers.
• Ensure training systems are robust, auditable, and compliant.
• Use data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Collaborate with operations to support productivity and growth.
• Deliver credible front-line driver training initiatives.
