Job summary

The Treasury Te Tai Ōhanga in Wellington is hiring two Modelling Specialists at the Analyst level to strengthen the Treasury's modelling, data, and analytical capability. This is a permanent, full-time role based in Wellington.

You will work on economic modelling, microdata analysis, forecasting, or applied policy analysis, and may help develop tools, improve processes, and support new analytical approaches that enhance evidence-based advice to Ministers.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in economics, econometrics, statistics, mathematics, or similar.
• Ability to apply skills to real-world problems.
• Experience with data, models, analytical tools, and code.
• Strong problem solving, data manipulation, and analytical skills.
• Clear written and verbal communication for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to modelling, data analysis, forecasting, or policy analysis.
• Develop analytical tools and improve analytical processes.
• Support adoption of new approaches and technologies in analysis.
• Collaborate with Treasury colleagues to produce evidence and insights for Ministers.
