Qualifications

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Engineer role based in Auckland. The Mechanical Engineer will design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for fibre laser and photonic systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creating and maintaining detailed 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings.
  • Performing basic mechanical analysis and engineering calculations.
  • Integrating mechanical designs with optical and electronic subsystems.
  • Preparing manufacturing and assembly documentation.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional engineering and R&D teams.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2-3+ years' experience in mechanical design engineering
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, with the ability to apply them to precision laser and photonic systems.
  • Strong machine and precision mechanical design skills, including materials selection, tolerance analysis, mechanisms, and design for manufacture.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD and 2D technical drawing.
  • Effective communication skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience with mechanical system integration and precision alignment is highly desirable.
  • Experience with optical or photonic systems, precision optomechanics, or laser equipment is advantageous but not required.
