Job description

Due to the company’s continuous growth an exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Manager based at our Head Office in West Auckland.

As the Mechanical Design Manager you will be managing the mechanical layout design team which supports two key internal customers; sales and project departments.

Your responsibilities include overseeing the quality and timeliness of the design and deliverables of the department, along with budgets, business plans, human resource matters and recoveries.

You must be legally allowed to work in New Zealand - NZ Citizen or Resident

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide mechanical layout design support to the two internal customers (project and sales)
• Work closely with other engineer disciplines (controls, software & manufacturing) to ensure multi-disciplinary integrated engineering solutions.
• Maintain Glidepath’s quality standards, policies, procedures & methodologies.
• Motivate and lead a team of engineers
• Focus on reducing costs without sacrificing quality
• Liaise with clients and consultants where necessary
• Work within an engineering team providing input and an understanding of Glidepath’s baggage handling systems and how these systems are maintained & controlled.
• Demonstrate dedication, discipline & commitment to quality.
• Reports to the Engineering Manager
• Other duties as assigned.
• Represent Glidepath in a professional manner.

Desired Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you will possess the following attributes:

• Design experience and skills in a project and medium-heavy engineering environment
• BHS/Industry experience is preferred
• Well-developed interpersonal, leadership and relationship skills
• Experience in using Computer Aided Design tools (AutoCAD 3D/Inventor) and other basic computer literacy including MS Office suite
• Sound planning and organizing skills including time management
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with others and to build strong, positive relationships at all levels
• Analytical and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail
• Sound commercial acumen
