Job summary

Canstaff is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer for a busy meat processing facility in Southland. This hands-on role focuses on mechanical maintenance, reliability, and safe operation of plant equipment, excluding electrical work.

You will manage maintenance schedules, troubleshoot pneumatics, plan shutdowns, and contribute to continuous improvement. Day or night shifts available; GMP experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a food production or meat processing environment (essential for understanding GMP standards)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with pneumatics
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, can-do attitude
• Ability to work independently and as part of a hardworking team
• Willingness to work either day or night shift

Responsibilities

• Setting up and managing maintenance schedules
• Maintaining and repairing existing plant equipment
• Completing mechanical repairs and troubleshooting pneumatic systems
• Planning and preparing for shutdown periods where major works are completed
