Job summary

Canstaff is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer for a busy meat processing facility in Southland. This hands-on role focuses on mechanical maintenance, reliability, and safe operation of plant equipment, excluding electrical work.

You will manage maintenance schedules, troubleshoot pneumatics, plan shutdowns, and contribute to continuous improvement. Day or night shifts available; GMP experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a food production or meat processing environment (essential for understanding GMP standards)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with pneumatics
• Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive, can-do attitude
• Ability to work independently and as part of a hardworking team
• Willingness to work either day or night shift

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Engineer to join a hardworking team within a busy meat processing facility. This role is hands-on and critical to ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the plant.

About the Role:

You will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of the plant (excluding electrical work), ensuring equipment is running optimally, and addressing issues as they arise. This role involves a strong mechanical focus and requires solid experience working with pneumatics. Key duties include:
