Manager of Cricket (Player Development & Pathways)

Bay of Plenty Cricket Association

Bay of Plenty Cricket is seeking an experienced and passionate Manager of Cricket to provide leadership across the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of representative cricket programmes, and coach development throughout the Bay of Plenty. This is an opportunity to play a leading role in shaping representative cricket and coaching across the Bay of Plenty.

Working alongside coaches, volunteers, clubs, schools and key stakeholders, you will help ensure our programmes are well planned, well supported and deliver positive experiences for participants.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Cricket Manager will lead representative cricket operations across the Bay of Plenty, with responsibility for programme planning, delivery, coach development and operational oversight.

This hybrid role works across BOP, onsite at cricketing venues around BOP, and from home. We are flexible in terms of the person's home-office location.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of BOP representative cricket programmes
  • Develop programme plans, budgets and operational frameworks
  • Manage facilities, resources, logistics and tournament delivery
  • Recruit, support and develop representative coaches
  • Lead coach development initiatives across the wider Bay of Plenty cricket community
  • Build strong relationships with clubs, schools and key stakeholders
  • Monitor programme quality, participant experience and programme outcomes
  • Ensure programmes meet safeguarding, governance and compliance requirements

A Key Part of the Role

This is not just a coaching position. While you'll understand what great coaching looks like and can step in when you need to, your primary responsibility will be leading programmes and supporting the people who deliver them. And while representative cricket is the focus of the role, your work in developing great coaches across the Bay of Plenty cricket community is one of the ways you'll help it thrive.

Success in this role will come from your ability to build capable coaching teams, deliver high-quality programmes, and create positive experiences for players, coaches and volunteers.

About You

You may come from cricket, community sport, education or programme management, but you will bring a proven ability to lead programmes, build relationships and develop people.

You will bring

  • Experience leading programmes, projects or sporting initiatives
  • Strong planning, organisational and coordination skills
  • Experience managing programme operations, logistics and budgets
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience coaching, mentoring or developing coaches
  • A collaborative leadership style and a passion for developing people
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with practical delivery

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to shape the future of representative cricket in the Bay of Plenty
  • A varied and rewarding leadership role
  • A supportive and passionate cricket environment

If you're passionate about leading quality programmes, developing people and creating great cricket experiences, we'd love to hear from you.
