Job summary

Fairfield Farms NZ Ltd is seeking a commercially minded Management Accountant to join our team and deliver high‑quality management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis and commercial support across our diverse farming operation.

Reporting to the Managing Director and collaborating with the operations team, you will translate financial data into practical insights, develop KPI dashboards, and partner with leaders to drive profitability, efficiency and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Strong management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting experience
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
• Ability to translate complex financial information into practical recommendations
• Commercial mind set with a focus on profitability, efficiency, and continuous improvement
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
• Confidence working with both financial and operational stakeholders
• High levels of initiative, curiosity, and attention to detail
• Ideally CA or CPA qualification (or working towards one) with agribusiness/manufacturing experience

Responsibilities

• Preparing monthly management accounts and business performance reporting
• Analysing financial and operational performance against budgets and forecasts
• Leading budgeting and forecasting processes
• Developing costing models and margin analysis across farming enterprises
• Supporting investment, capital expenditure, and commercial decision‑making
• Building and enhancing KPI dashboards and reporting tools
• Partnering with operational leaders to improve business performance
• Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes, and reporting capability

They are seeking a talented Management Accountant to join their team and play a key role in providing business performance reporting to support operational decision‑making across the business.

This is not a traditional accounting role focused on historical reporting. For this role we are looking for someone who can provide meaningful commercial insights, challenge assumptions, identify opportunities, and help the business make better decisions.

About the Role

Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the operations team, you will be responsible for delivering high‑quality management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis, and commercial support across a diverse farming operation.

Working as part of the wider finance team, you will help translate financial data into practical business intelligence, providing visibility of performance drivers and supporting improved profitability across the organisation.

About You

You will be an analytically strong Accountant who enjoys understanding how a business operates and influencing decisions through data‑driven insights.

To be successful, you will bring:

• Strong management accounting, budgeting, and forecasting experience
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
• The ability to translate complex financial information into practical recommendations
• A commercial mind set with a focus on profitability, efficiency, and continuous improvement
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
• Confidence working with both financial and operational stakeholders
• High levels of initiative, curiosity, and attention to detail

Ideally, you will hold a CA or CPA qualification (or be working towards one) and have gained experience within agribusiness, manufacturing, production, or another operationally focused environment.
