Job description

Are you an experienced accountant ready to take the next step in your career?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a successful and growing FMCG business in a varied, hands‑on Finance Manager role. You do not need to come from a manufacturing background—we are looking for someone with a solid commercial accounting foundation, strong analytical skills and a willingness to learn about our business.

Based in our Manukau office, you will work closely with and report to the Finance and Operations Director. You will be supported as you develop your knowledge of the business and take responsibility for its day‑to‑day financial reporting and accounting requirements.

The Role

This is a broad commercial accounting role covering monthly reporting, cashflow management, budgeting, forecasting, GST and FBT returns, and oversight of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to business improvement projects, develop management reporting and provide practical financial analysis to help the wider team make informed decisions.

The role would suit someone with at least five years’ commercial accounting experience who is ready to step into a Finance Manager position or broaden their experience in an established and growing business.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management and Reporting

Prepare accurate and timely monthly management reports.

Complete balance sheet reconciliations and support the integrity of the general ledger.

Prepare GST and FBT returns.

Assist with preparing annual budgets and maintaining rolling forecasts.

Prepare cashflow and working capital reports.

Develop clear and useful management reports.

Analyse financial results and explain key trends and variances.

Provide practical financial information to support business decisions.

Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

Oversee the day‑to‑day Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions.

Provide guidance and support to the AP and AR team.

Monitor debtor and creditor balances.

Help maintain effective financial controls and processes.

Support the management of cashflow and working capital.

Business Improvement and Projects

Contribute to finance and wider business improvement projects.

Work with people across the business to support the successful delivery of projects.

Provide financial analysis and modelling for new initiatives.

Identify practical opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and systems.

Systems

Support the effective operation of the company’s ERP and financial systems.

Liaise with the ERP provider when required.

Help maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial information.

Provide support and guidance to internal system users.

Assist with system improvements and user training.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:

At least five years’ commercial accounting experience.

Experience preparing monthly management reports and balance sheet reconciliations.

Sound knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and cashflow reporting.

Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.

Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Experience with, or an understanding of, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.

Good organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.

Clear written and verbal communication skills.

A practical, proactive and collaborative approach.

The ability to work independently while knowing when to seek input or support.

A CA qualification, or progress towards one, would be advantageous but is not essential.

Experience within manufacturing or FMCG would also be useful, but it is not a requirement. Experience with Power BI would be an advantage.

About You

You may already be working as a Finance Manager, or you may be an experienced Company Accountant looking for the opportunity to take the next step.

You will enjoy being involved in the detail while also developing an understanding of the wider business. You will be comfortable working with numbers, systems and people, and will take pride in producing accurate and useful financial information.

Most importantly, you will be keen to learn, contribute and grow with the business.

This is an office‑based position in Manukau, with parking provided. Applicants must have full New Zealand working rights. Remote candidates cannot be considered at this time.
