Job summary

InterGroup is seeking a commercially focused Management Accountant to join our finance team in Auckland. This role supports business performance through financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end reporting.

You will partner with operational and departmental managers, provide insights to drive decision-making, and contribute to continuous improvement of financial processes and controls.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Working towards CA or CA accreditation obtained.
• Experience in Management Accountant or similar commercial finance role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret complex financial information.
• Experience preparing budgets, forecasts, management reports and financial analysis.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management with non-financial managers.
• Advanced Excel skills and Power BI experience.
• Proactive, detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

• Partner with managers across the business to analyse financial and operational performance.
• Prepare and deliver accurate and timely month-end reporting and management accounts.
• Lead the preparation and maintenance of forecasts, budgets, and financial plans.
• Monitor, analyse, and report on revenue and cost performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Support business leaders with financial modelling, profitability analysis, and decision support.
• Prepare and post month-end journals, accruals, prepayments, and other accounting adjustments.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the integrity of financial data.
• Investigate variances against budget, forecast, and prior periods, providing meaningful commentary.
• Assist with the continuous improvement of financial processes, systems, and reporting capabilities.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.

About You

• A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Working towards your CA or you have obtained it
• Previous experience in a Management Accountant, Financial Accountant, or similar commercial finance role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information.
• Experience preparing budgets, forecasts, management reports, and financial analysis.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with non-financial managers.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with Power BI and reporting systems.
• A proactive approach with strong attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset.
