Job summary

Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour is seeking a Part-Time Maintenance Technician to support the Maintenance Manager in keeping the hotel assets safe, functional and welcoming for guests. The role emphasizes a hands-on approach with a focus on efficiency and timely repairs.

Ideal candidates will have at least 1 year of maintenance experience, preferably in hospitality, and hold a trade qualification. A full NZ driver’s license, strong communication skills and problem-solving abilities are important

Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience in Maintenance or similar industry; hotel/tourism background preferred but not required.
• Trade qualified is preferred but not essential; working knowledge of building compliance and risk management.
• Hands-on approach with strong problem-solving abilities and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Maintenance Manager to maintain building, plant, equipment and fittings to keep the hotel safe, functional and pleasant for guests and staff.
• Support day-to-day maintenance of hotel facilities including pool, spa, chillers, air handling, door locks and water features.
• Perform daily plant rounds and note any faulty equipment for repair; complete rounds within a 15-minute window when possible.
• Keep records of repairs and maintenance; liaise with the maintenance team to restore guest rooms and public areas to full operation.
• Report progress to Manager on Duty or Front Office and suggest improvements to services or procedures.

Your Purpose:

You are the first brushstroke on a canvas of culinary art - subtle, intentional, and essential to the masterpiece that follows.

• Assisting the Maintenance Manager to maintain, using safe working practices, the building, plant, equipment, fixtures and fittings to protect the asset and ensure it remains a functional, pleasant and safe environment for all guests, contractors, visitors and other employees.
• Assisting the Maintenance Manager in the day to day operation of the maintenance requirements of the hotel including, pool, spa and water feature pump and motors, automatic chemical dispensers, VSD motors and control, Saflok electronic door lock, storm water and sewerage pump and controls, chillers and air handling units and controls, and Movielink system.
• Complete daily plant rounds and note for repair any equipment that may appear or sound faulty.
• carry out maintenance on mechanical equipment and water reticulation to ensure acceptable availability and reliability.
• Assist in the keeping up to date records on the repair and maintenance of plant and equipment

• Liaise with the Maintenance Manager regarding all work in guest rooms and public areas to ensure out of order areas of the hotel are brought back to use as soon as possible.
• Complete all tasks where possible within a 15 minutes time frame of receiving the request
• Report back to the Manager on Duty or Front Office the completion or delay, of any task that is guest related.
• Suggest any improvements that could be made to improve existing service or procedures, log and inform the Department Manager of any service or system problems.

• At least 1 years experience in Maintenance or similar industry; ideally in hotel/tourism industry however, not required.
• Trade qualified is preferred but not essential;
• Working knowledge of building compliance, risk management, and a passion for environmental sustainability;
• Be a hands on - This is not an admin based role;
• Be able to problem solve effectively, logically and resourcefully
• Valid Full NZ drivers license;
• Strong presentation skills
