Job summary

Metro Performance Glass Ltd in Auckland (Highbrook) is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our busy manufacturing plant. You'll work alongside fellow engineers to keep our plant and equipment running at peak performance, performing planned maintenance, repairs and new installations.

This role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, involvement in automation projects, and development of practical training and documentation to share knowledge across the team.

Qualifications

  • Experience performing planned preventive maintenance and breakdown repairs.
  • Background in a busy manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of automation equipment, HMIs and PLCs is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Lisec equipment is advantageous.
  • Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with CMMS and Microsoft Office.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and Health & Safety.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out scheduled PMs, breakdown repairs and installations.
  • Support modern automation and plant improvement projects.
  • Develop training processes and share knowledge across the team.
  • Ensure Health & Safety practices are followed in all tasks.

We’re looking for an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our close-knit team at our busy Auckland manufacturing plant in Highbrook.

Working alongside our other Maintenance Engineers, you’ll play a hands-on role in keeping our plant and equipment running at its best. From planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs through to new installations and improvement projects, no two days will be the same.

This is a great opportunity to get involved in new systems, automation and plant improvement projects, while working closely with management and the wider production team. You'll also help develop practical training processes and documentation to ensure knowledge and systems are effectively shared across the team.

What we're looking for:
  • Experience carrying out planned preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and equipment installations
  • A proven track record working in a busy, fast-paced manufacturing or production environment
  • Knowledge of automation equipment, HMIs and PLCs — highly desirable, but not essential
  • Experience working with Lisec automated equipment would give you a real advantage
  • Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of automated and industrial production machinerySomeone who can work independently but is equally comfortable being part of a team
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the wider plant
  • Experience using a CMMS system and Microsoft applications
  • A proactive, self-motivated approach with a genuine commitment to continuous improvement and Health & Safety
