Job summary

Cardinal Logistics in New Zealand's Auckland region is seeking a qualified Maintenance Electrician to join our automated warehouse team. You will maintain and optimise electrical, automation, and robotic systems to ensure maximum reliability and operational efficiency.

This shift-based role operates on rotating rosters as part of a 24/7 operation, with duties spanning preventive maintenance, fault diagnosis, testing, and compliance with NZ regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years industrial maintenance experience.
• Current NZ Electrical Practising Licence.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance on electrical, control, automation, and robotic systems.
• Diagnose faults across PLCs, VSDs, HMIs, sensors, scanners, and automated equipment.
• Install, test, and commission electrical, control, safety, power, and data systems.
• Maintain motors, drives, switchboards, control panels, and other critical site infrastructure.
• Maximise equipment reliability, performance, and uptime through proactive maintenance and continuous improvement.
• Ensure all work complies with NZ electrical regulations, standards, and health & safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and support audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

This is shift work, which supports a 24/7 operation.
Rotating roster hours (1):
Monday to Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
Monday to Friday, 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm
Monday to Thursday, 8:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Rotating roster hours (2) with a 4 day on and off rotation & repeat:
4 days, 6:00 am - 6:00 pm
4 nights,6:00 pm-6:00 am

As a Maintenance Electricianyou will be part of the driving force behind our automated warehouse, maintaining and optimising advanced electrical, automation, and robotic systems to safely deliver maximum reliability, and operational efficiency.

What you'll do:

• Carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance on electrical, control, automation, and robotic systems.
• Diagnose and resolve faults across PLCs, VSDs, HMIs, sensors, scanners, and automated equipment.
• Install, test, and commission electrical, control, safety, power, and data systems.
• Maintain motors, drives, switchboards, control panels, and other critical site infrastructure.
• Maximise equipment reliability, performance, and uptime through proactive maintenance and continuous improvement.
• Ensure all work complies with NZ electrical regulations, standards, and health & safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and support audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

What skills & experience you will bring:

• Experience withwith ASRS, STVs, conveyors and robotics and PLCfault finding
• Automated warehouse or working in FMCG environments experience
• Industrial networking and automation systems knowledge, specifically MEX CMMS
• A current EWP and forklift license(advantageous)

If you are a qualified Maintenance Electrician, you must also have:

• Minimum 3 years industrial maintenance experience
• Current NZ Electrical Practising Licence
