About The Freight HubThe Freight Hub operates an automated freight-sorting facility near Christchurch Airport. Our team manages courier freight for the wider Christchurch region, freight moving between centres throughout the South Island and inter-island freight moving through our air and road networks.
The OpportunityWe are looking for an experienced and practical Maintenance Engineer to join our Freight Hub engineering team.
The main focus of this hands‑on role is completing maintenance, welding, fabrication and mechanical repairs on our freight‑handling equipment, including cages, trolleys and other operational assets. You will help ensure our equipment remains safe, reliable and fit for purpose.
You will also support the wider engineering team with routine inspections, planned maintenance, basic fault‑finding and breakdown assistance on our Beumer cross‑belt sorter and associated conveyor systems. Training on the sortation equipment can be provided.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will be reliable, practical and solutions‑focused, with a strong hands‑on approach. You will take pride in completing repairs to a high standard and be comfortable working in a busy operational environment.
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
Electrical experience or previous experience with conveyors, automated equipment or cross‑belt sortation systems would be an advantage but is not essential, as training can be provided.
