Job description

About The Role:

We’re looking for an experienced Maintenance Administrator to join our Transmission and Growth team and provide the day-to-day administrative support that keeps our maintenance operations running smoothly. This is more than filing, data entry and emails. Working alongside Delivery Managers, Supervisors, field teams and support functions, the role ensures information, records and processes are accurate, organised and up to date. The ideal candidate will be organised, proactive and detail-focused, with the ability to manage competing priorities, identify what needs attention and take ownership without needing constant direction. Strong communication skills and confidence working with field teams, managers, customers and external suppliers are essential. Strong Microsoft Office and Excel skills, along with the ability to learn new systems quickly, are important. Experience with administration, reporting, records or compliance systems will be advantageous. Most importantly, this role suits someone who enjoys being part of a team, takes pride in their work and understands the important role great administration plays in keeping a busy operational environment running effectively.

Role Responsibilities:

No two days will look the same. You’ll provide a broad range of administrative support, from managing documents, records and correspondence through to data entry, invoicing, travel arrangements and general office coordination. You’ll become a key point of contact for the maintenance team, helping coordinate information between the office and our field-based workforce. You’ll work across systems including SharePoint, QPulse and Maximo, ensuring records are accurate, information is easy to find, and important actions don’t get lost in the day-to-day business. There will also be the usual things that keep an office ticking organising couriers, stationery, scanning, photocopying, mail and general administration. You’ll also provide support and cover for other administrators when needed.

Experience:

You’ll ideally bring 5+ years of administration experience and a relevant NZQA Level 4 or tertiary qualification.

You’ll also bring:
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong data entry skills.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organisation and time-management skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach.
  • The confidence to work independently while being a strong team player.
  • The ability to handle sensitive information professionally and maintain accurate records.
  • A willingness to learn new systems and processes.
What Northpower Offers You:

Make real impact across Aotearoa in a stable and future‑focused sector. At Northpower, you’ll do work that matters and powers our communities while growing your career in an organisation that genuinely cares for its people.

You’ll benefit from:

  • Fair and market competitive pay with the flexibility to tailor through additional leave and increased employer KiwiSaver contributions
  • Life insurance and preventative health initiatives (including annual flu immunisations and Mole Maps)
  • Discounted group medical cover and health and fitness programmes (including Fitness Passport)
  • Discounted fuel rates plus a range of retail discounts (including Boost, PB Tech and Specsavers)
  • Ongoing learning and development, with clear career pathways to help you grow, specialise, or progress
