Job summary

Northpower is seeking a skilled Electrical Fitter to construct, install and maintain electrical equipment across substation and distribution environments in Tauranga. You will work to meet customer requirements with a strong focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

You’ll keep accurate records, take ownership of tasks, and apply fault-finding and diagnostic skills to deliver quality, safe solutions. A tool of trade vehicle is provided for work use only, and Northpower supports ongoing

Qualifications

  • A certificate in Electrical Engineering or currently working towards one.
  • EWRB Registration - Electrician is required.
  • Experience in substations and distribution network equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Construct, install and maintain electrical equipment in substation and distribution environments.
  • Carry out electrical work in line with industry regulations and company standards.
  • Keep accurate records and reports for all work completed.
  • Take ownership of tasks to ensure quality and accountability.
  • Apply fault-finding skills to identify issues and implement solutions safely.

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Fitter tojoin our team. In this role, you will be responsible for constructing,installing, and maintaining electrical equipment to meet customer requirementsacross substation and distribution environments. The ideal candidate will havea strong understanding of electrical regulations, excellent attention todetail, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work. A tool of tradevehicle is provided for the role but is limited to work use only.

Role Responsibilities:
Electrical Fitting:
  • Construct, install and maintain electrical equipment tomeet customer requirements in substation and distribution environments.
  • Carry out all electrical work in line with industryregulations and company standards.
  • Keep accurate records, documentation and reports for allwork completed.
  • Take full ownership of the tasks you’re responsible for,ensuring quality and accountability at every stage.
  • Apply strong problem-solving skills to identify issues andimplement effective solutions quickly and safely.
Qualifications:
  • A certificate in Electrical Engineering or currentlyworking towards one (advantageous).
  • EWRB Registration - Electrician (required).
Experience:
  • Experience working in substations (11kV–110kV) and/ordistribution network equipment (400V–11kV) in either construction ormaintenance.
  • Strong focus on safety and compliance.
  • A team player with good communication skills and apositive, collaborative attitude.
  • Logical thinker with strong fault-finding and diagnosticabilities.
  • Practical aptitude across both mechanics and electronics.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team, dependingon the task.
  • Physically capable of meeting the demands of on-site work.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail and pride indelivering quality results.
