Responsibilities

Machinist - Manufacturing and Engineering

Western Engineering Group (1996) Ltd is seeking an experienced Machinist to join our team in our Avondale, Auckland manufacturing facility. This is a full-time position where you will play a key role in our engineering and manufacturing operations.

What you'll be doing
  • Operate a variety of heavy-duty machine tools such as lathes, mills and drill presses to manufacture precision components
  • Familiarity with the use of CNC control systems by Fagor, Siemens and Proto Trak would be a distinct advantage
  • Fitting and/or welding experience would also be an advantage
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and specifications to ensure accurate machining
  • Set up and adjust machines, tools and fixtures to ensure optimal performance and product quality
  • Monitor machine operations, make adjustments as needed and identify any issues or defects
  • Maintain detailed records of production activities, quality checks and machine maintenance
  • Work collaboratively with the engineering and production teams to solve problems and improve processes
  • Adhere to all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures
What we're looking for
  • Several years of experience as a Machinist in a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Strong knowledge of operating and maintaining a range of machine tools including CNC lathes, mills, grinders and drill presses
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints and specifications
  • Good problem-solving, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
