Job summary

Myriad Engineering is a NZ-owned precision engineering company based in Lower Hutt, seeking an experienced 5-Axis CNC Machinist & Programmer to join the team.

You will program, set and operate advanced CNC machinery to manufacture precision components, ensuring accuracy, quality, and on-time delivery while supporting continuous improvement.

This hands-on role offers long-term career growth with modern equipment and diverse projects across industries.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Engineering, Machining or equivalent.
• Extensive CNC programming and setup experience.
• Proven 5-axis machining capability.
• Knowledge of CAM software and programming principles.
• Experience with aluminium, stainless steel and plastics.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up and operate 3- and 5-axis CNC mills and centres.
• Develop and optimise CNC programs and tooling strategies.
• Read engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerances.
• Conduct first-off checks and in-process adjustments.
• Ensure on-time delivery while maintaining quality and safety.

Myriad arelooking for an experienced 5-Axis CNC Machinist & Programmer to join their growing team.

About the Role

As a 5-Axis CNC Machinist & Programmer, you will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating advanced CNC machinery to manufacture precision-engineered components to tolerance.

You will play a key role in ensuring jobs are delivered efficiently, accurately, and on time while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on position within a fast-paced environment where initiative, versatility, and attention to detail are highly valued.

Key Responsibilities

CNC Programming & Manufacturing

• Develop, edit, optimise and prove-out CNC programs for complex 3-axis and 5-axis machining operations
• Program, set and operate CNC mills and machining centres
• Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, cutting parameters and machining strategies
• Conduct first-off runs and make program adjustments as required
• Improve machining efficiency through cycle time reduction and tooling optimisation
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications and tolerances
• Manufacture components to specification while meeting productivity and quality targets

Qualifications and experience :

• Trade qualification in Engineering, Machining, Toolmaking or equivalent industry experience
• Extensive experience programming, setting and operating CNC machining centres
• Proven 5-axis machining experience
• Strong knowledge of CAM software and CNC programming principles
• Experience with a range of materials including aluminium, stainless steel, engineering plastics and exotic alloys
• High-level understanding of machining processes, tooling selection and workholding methods
• Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment, including CMMs
• Strong understanding of quality systems and tolerance control
• Experience within a high-precision manufacturing or jobbing environment
