Job summary

Laminex New Zealand, part of Fletcher Building, is seeking a Machine Operator (Day Operator) to join our Taupō finishing team. In this hands-on role, you will operate the finishing line to ensure products meet safety, quality and production standards.

You will monitor equipment, perform quality checks, troubleshoot faults, and move finished goods with a forklift while maintaining a strong health and safety focus. Friday shift 6:30am–12:00pm with paid breaks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience operating machinery in manufacturing or production.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• High attention to detail with a quality-focused mindset.
• Basic computer skills and data entry experience.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to health and safety practices.
• Forklift licence advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate sanding, cutting, strapping and packing machinery.
• Cut boards to production specifications and conduct quality checks.
• Troubleshoot machine faults and line stoppages.
• Monitor equipment via HMIs and replace sanding paper as needed.
• Move finished products with a forklift to the warehouse.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety and quality.

About the Role:

Our team in Taupō is looking for a Machine Operator (Day Operator) to join our Finishing Team at our manufacturing plant. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for operating and monitoring the finishing line to ensure products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.

Your duties will include:

• Operating sanding, cutting, strapping, and packing machinery.
• Cutting and packing boards to production specifications.
• Conducting quality checks, including visual inspections and measurements.
• Troubleshooting machine faults, line stoppages, and product defects.
• Monitoring and operating equipment through HMI systems.
• Replacing sanding paper and assisting with routine machine maintenance.
• Moving finished products with a forklift to the warehouse.
• Maintaining a strong focus on health, safety, and quality.

Friday, 6:30am - 12:00pm, with paid breaks.
