Qualifications

  • Current NZ Surveyors Board registration as a cadastral surveyor.
  • Proven cadastral surveying experience with accurate, compliant results.
  • Knowledge of cadastral law, Land Transfer Act, and relevant standards.
  • Proficiency with GPS/GNSS and survey data processing software.
  • Strong communication with clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisation and project management skills.
  • Willingness to travel throughout Waikato.
  • Valid NZ driver's license.

About the role

We are seeking a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor to join our team in Hamilton, based in the heart of Central Waikato. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to work on diverse surveying projects whilst utilising your technical expertise and professional credentials. As a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in our organisation, taking responsibility for conducting accurate land surveys, preparing survey plans, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and standards. This position is integral to delivering the high-quality services our clients depend on and contributes directly to the success of our business.

Key responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive cadastral surveys and prepare detailed survey plans in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements
  • Liaise with clients, solicitors, real estate agents and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver tailored surveying solutions
  • Manage field work activities, including site visits, measurements and data collection using modern surveying equipment and technology
  • Analyse survey data and prepare accurate technical documentation and reports for submission to the Land Information Authority and other regulatory bodies
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cadastral law, standards and best practices within the surveying profession
  • Oversee quality assurance processes to ensure all survey work meets professional and legal standards
  • Collaborate with team members and support the smooth operation of the surveying practice
  • Provide professional advice to clients regarding land boundaries, ownership matters and surveying-related concerns
What we're looking for
  • Current Licensed Cadastral Surveyor status with New Zealand Surveyors Board registration or equivalent qualification
  • Proven experience in cadastral surveying, with a strong track record of delivering accurate and compliant survey work
  • In-depth knowledge of cadastral law, the Land Transfer Act and relevant surveying standards and regulations
  • Proficiency with modern surveying technology and software, including GPS/GNSS systems and survey data processing applications
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly to clients
  • Excellent organisational and project management abilities, capable of managing multiple surveys simultaneously
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and professionalism
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel throughout the Waikato region as required
  • Preferred: Experience in boundary disputes, land development projects or complex survey scenarios
