Job summary

G. Low Surveying – Waitakere, North Island, seeks an experienced Engineering Survey Technician to join our Auckland team. The role blends field and office work across topographical, engineering and cadastral surveys, construction set-out and as-built surveys.

We require a qualification in Surveying or related field; Mandarin communication is a plus for liaising with Mandarin-speaking clients. Training is provided for recent graduates, with a company vehicle after independence on site.

Qualifications

  • Background or qualification in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics or a related field.
  • Recent graduates are welcome; training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Practical experience with GNSS and total stations.
  • Good understanding of survey data collection and processing.
  • Must hold a full New Zealand driver licence.

  • Undertake topographical, engineering, cadastral, construction set-out and as-built surveys.
  • Operate and maintain GNSS receivers, total stations, digital levels and other survey equipment.
  • Collect, process and check survey data and prepare survey plans and related deliverables.
  • Prepare survey plans, drawings, calculations, reports and other deliverables.
  • Support subdivision, land development, infrastructure and construction projects.
  • Work closely with clients, consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders.
  • Comply with company policies, health and safety requirements and relevant legislation.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Engineering Survey Technician to join our growing surveying team in Auckland.

The role combines field and office work across a range of projects, including topographical, engineering and cadastral surveys, construction set-out and as-built surveys.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertake topographical, engineering, cadastral, construction set-out and as-built surveys.
  • Operate and maintain GNSS receivers, total stations, digital levels and other survey equipment.
  • Collect, process and check survey data and prepare survey plans and related deliverables.
  • Prepare survey plans, drawings, calculations, reports and other deliverables.
  • Support subdivision, land development, infrastructure and construction projects.
  • Work closely with clients, consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders.
  • Comply with company policies, health and safety requirements and relevant legislation.

About you:

  • Background or qualification in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Geomatics or a related field.
  • Good Mandarin communication skills are preferred, as the role involves regular communication with Mandarin-speaking clients and project stakeholders.
  • Recent graduates are welcome to apply; previous surveying experience is an advantage, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Practical experience with GNSS and total stations.
  • Good understanding of survey data collection and processing.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Must hold a full New Zealand driver licence.
