Job summary

Tauranga City Council is seeking a Library & Community Hub Assistant for 20 hours per week in Tauranga. Shifts are rostered on Monday, Friday, and Saturday, providing information and access to library and council services to the local community.

The role emphasizes excellent customer service, assisting with printing and scanning, shelving items, promoting programmes, and guiding users to digital resources. Previous library or customer service work is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in library, community, or customer service environments.
• Outstanding customer service and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Resilience when dealing with challenging customers and situations.
• Ability to communicate with people within Tauranga City’s diverse community.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist community members with access to library and council services.
• Provide information on Council services, bylaws, policies, and procedures.
• Assist with printing, photocopying, and scanning.
• Issue, return and shelve library items.
• Support the promotion, booking and delivery of library programmes.
• Recommend and discuss books with children and adults.
• Assist customers with digital resources including ebooks and other online services.
