Wakaaranga School is seeking a skilled, caring and collaborative Learning Support Coordinator/Teacher to join our learning support team.

The focus of this role is to provide targeted and tailored learning support for individual students and small groups of students with identified learning needs. The successful applicant will work directly with students, planning and delivering focused teaching programmes that support progress, confidence and success.

The role will operate under the guidance of our existing Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO).

We are looking for someone who:

• Is a New Zealand registered teacher with a current practising certificate.
• Has strong knowledge of effective literacy and numeracy teaching practices.
• Has experience providing targeted support for students with diverse or additional learning needs.
• Can design and deliver responsive, evidence-informed interventions.
• Uses assessment effectively to identify needs, plan teaching and evaluate progress.
• Builds positive relationships with students and creates a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Is patient, empathetic, organised and solutions-focused.
• Communicates clearly and works collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
• Demonstrates a strong commitment to inclusive education and equitable outcomes for all learners.

Experience in learning support, structured literacy, numeracy, neurodiversity, or supporting students with additional academic, behavioural or social-emotional needs would be an advantage.

This position offers an opportunity to focus exclusively on working directly with students and providing high-quality, targeted teaching where it is most needed.
