Job summary

Kaipara College in Helensville, Auckland, invites applications for a Learning Support Coordinator (LSC) to join our learner support faculty. The role blends learner support with teaching, ideal for a primary-trained teacher with NZ registration.

You will work with students with learning support needs, deliver tailored literacy and numeracy programs, mentor learners with behavioural needs, and collaborate with SENCO and teachers to raise learner outcomes.

Qualifications

• Registered NZ teacher with current practising certificate.
• Experience supporting learners with additional needs in classroom settings.
• Ability to design and deliver targeted literacy/numeracy programmes.
• Strong communication with parents, whānau and communities.

Responsibilities

• Work with children and young people with learning support needs in the classroom.
• Construct and deliver tailored literacy/numeracy programmes.
• Accelerate low-level learners through targeted small-group and one-on-one delivery.
• Mentor students with additional behavioural needs, supporting their hauora and engagement alongside their learning.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with parents, whānau and communities.
• Support subject teachers, the SENCO and LSCs, and work as part of a team.
• Engage at school or kura leadership level with influencing skills at a working level.
• Maintain professional standards relevant to an LSC role.
• Provide culturally responsive support upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi
