Job summary

New Zealand Government’s NZSIS seeks a Lead System Engineer to drive the infrastructure evolution of the Protective Monitoring Centre. You will architect and optimise the SIEM analysis platform, balancing strategic direction with hands-on execution to secure national IT systems.

You will lead research and development to ensure scalable systems that meet growing data demands, delivering highly compartmented insider threat tools across government partners while maintaining rigorous security

Qualifications

• Experience in Windows and Unix environments.
• Proven skills in modern infrastructure including virtualization and containerisation.
• Strong networking fundamentals (switches, routers, firewalls).
• Automation scripting to drive reliability and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design and optimisation of the PMC infrastructure.
• Oversee service delivery, planning and strategy for critical systems.
• Design and implement robust risk mitigation and technical guidance.
• Serve as technical bridge across intelligence disciplines and tooling requirements.
