Job summary

New Zealand Government Joba seeks a Senior System Support/COMSEC Advisor to safeguard cryptographic assets powering NZIC. You will own the full lifecycle of security material, manage keys and policies, and serve as the primary escalation point for partners, ensuring operations run 24/7.

You will blend technical leadership with vigilance, monitor wide-area networks, validate equipment, and mentor the next generation of specialists, contributing to New Zealand's national security.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in IT support or service delivery (Windows/UNIX environments).
• Experience maintaining LAN and WAN infrastructures.
• Solid COMSEC knowledge of cryptographic principles, equipment and procedures.
• Familiarity with ITIL-based service management (incident, change, and problem).
• Formal messaging knowledge (principles, systems and applications) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Own the full lifecycle of security material, from keys to policies.
• Act as the escalation point for partners to ensure continuous operations.
• Monitor network activity and resolve anomalies across the NZIC infrastructure.
• Mentor and develop the next generation of security specialists.
