Job summary

Legends Global is seeking a Steward Supervisor at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre to lead a busy back-of-house team and ensure high standards of cleanliness and hygiene. You’ll coordinate scheduling, manage a casual stewarding team, support event logistics, and work closely with the Chief Steward and Executive Chef to deliver world-class culinary experiences while upholding manaaki values.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership experience in a busy hospitality or kitchen environment.
• Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene standards, and WHS compliance.
• Experience with commercial dishwashing equipment and cleaning chemicals.
• A proactive, organised, and detail-oriented approach.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
• Physically fit and flexible with working hours.
• A positive attitude and commitment to Te Pae Christchurch’s values of manaaki.

Responsibilities

• Supervising the cleanliness and hygiene of all kitchen and back-of-house areas.
• Overseeing bulk washing of cutlery, crockery, and glassware.
• Coordinating the set-up and breakdown of catering events.
• Managing stewarding schedules, food safety records, and equipment logistics.
• Leading, training, and inspiring a motivated stewarding team.
• Supporting financial targets through efficient use of chemicals, labour, and resources.
• Performing administrative duties to ensure smooth departmental operations.
• Collaborating with the Chief Steward and Executive Chef to maintain open communication and operational excellence.
