Job summary

Movio is seeking a Senior Software Engineer - Team Lead in Auckland to lead a squad of full-stack engineers, owning design, development and architecture while collaborating with the Engineering Manager.

You will drive high-performance, fault-tolerant systems, ensure test coverage and CI, and mentor teammates in an autonomous, diverse environment with strong prioritisation.

This hands-on role offers influence over technical interviews, onboarding and strategic objectives as the team scales.

Responsibilities

• Motivate and lead the team, guiding Engineers to own their work
• Foster continuous improvement, share ideas and technologies with the team
• Support learning and growth, lead by example
• Collaborate with Engineering Manager to encourage code reviews and design discussions
• Guide Engineers to deliver high-quality software architecture and code
• Assist Engineering Manager with technical interviews, induction and mentoring
• Provide reviews, coaching, and cross-squad communication
• Act as a communication point to team and stakeholders when timeframes are at risk
• Report progress to Engineering Manager and refine strategic objectives
