Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking an experienced Industrial Carpenter to lead carpentry across construction and fabrication projects. This role requires advanced trade skill, strong judgement, and the ability to manage complex tasks independently.

Candidates should have at least three years of relevant experience and a trade qualification in carpentry or joinery. You will interpret drawings, plan work, and mentor juniors on site.

Qualifications

• At least three years of relevant experience in industrial carpentry or a trade qualification in carpentry/joinery.
• Ability to interpret detailed technical drawings and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Independently construct, install, and repair complex structures, fixtures, and fittings to a high standard.
• Interpret detailed drawings, blueprints, and specifications, identifying discrepancies.
• Plan and sequence carpentry work to ensure efficient use of time and materials.
• Select, measure, cut, and shape a wide range of materials with precision.
• Operate and maintain hand and power tools safely across the team.
• Ensure all work meets relevant building codes, structural requirements, and quality standards.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior carpenters and apprentices.
• Liaise with site supervisors, engineers, and other trades to resolve technical issues.
• Conduct quality assurance checks on completed work and sign off to required standards.
• Maintain accurate job records, including materials, time, and progress reporting.
• Contribute to project planning, providing input on carpentry scope, timelines, and resourcing.
• Undertake other senior carpentry or site duties as required by management.
